Tonight on Heart for the World, Chris Hill will be speaking from 2 Kings 4:1-8. In this scripture, a faithful woman of God is in desperate need of provision. Her husband had just passed away, and she was left with two sons to care for. What’s more, in order to pay off a debt, her creditor was threatening to take her sons away from her to sell as slaves. She was in a dire, impossible situation. But Elisha the prophet stepped in on her behalf, instructing her to gather empty vessels in her home. She had one jar of oil, the only thing of value in her home, and Elisha told her to pour that oil into the vessels she had gathered. As she continued to pour, the oil multiplied! She filled all of the vessels she had gathered, and was able to sell them in order to pay her debt and secure financial stability for her family for years to come.
With her husband gone, that widow needed not only a miracle for her present situation, but one for her future generations as well. The Lord blessed her with oil, and she used that gift as a blessing to impact future generations.
