Q: Your book is called “Life is Short – Leave a Legacy.” Why is that such an important message for this day and age?
A: In a day when people are calling good evil and evil good, it is imperative that every Christian be able to live fully and wholeheartedly in the belief system that Jesus is King and Jesus is Lord. Jesus being Lord means that He is the leader of your life, and He wants to leave a legacy of what it means to be completely and utterly in love with Him in everything that you say and do for the entirety of your life on earth.
Q: What does it mean to leave a legacy, and how are you doing that today?
A: Leaving a legacy actually means to leave an inheritance of something for someone. First to your kids, and then to the Body of Christ. Leaving a legacy is pressing into the depth of the Kingdom to mine the reality of what God has stored up for us. The Bible says that it is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but it is the glory of kings to search it out (Proverbs 25:2). Once we find the concealed gold, it is imperative that we walk it out in such a way that we leave that inheritance to our children, but also leave that legacy for the Body of Christ to step into so that our ceiling can become the floor for the next generation.
Q: Let’s talk a little about your testimony. Why is it important that people realize it’s more than just “an amazing story?”
A: Testimony means, “do it again God.” And what God did in and through one, He will do in and through another. When someone shares their testimony, it enables the Holy Spirit to go ahead and do that same thing in the person hearing the testimony. It is so amazing to share your testimony because God will land on that testimony and use it to set another life free just as He has done with my testimony.
Q: How did God reveal to you the importance of leaving a legacy?
A: Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” That word “good” means “righteous.” So, a righteous man leaves an inheritance. The reality of the price that Jesus paid for me has been realized by my life. The reality of His forgiveness, the reality of His power that He has given to us, the reality of His character that He has enabled us to live in. These realities are all so important to me. Walking this reality out becomes spirit and life to us. When something becomes spirit and life, we actually own it – we don’t just know about it, but we actually know it. It’s so important that we walk this out so that we own it and can give that inheritance to the generation coming after us. It’s like Jesus, who paid a price for us to receive a gift through inheritance. He paid such a steep price for this inheritance, yet we get to own the inheritance for free! The only thing that we must do is deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. Pay the price for someone to step in where you left off. It’s so important to bring this to the next generation and the next generation until Jesus comes back!
Q: We’ve all heard the phrase “you can’t take it with you” in regard to material possessions, but there is one thing you can take to Heaven with you. Tell us about that.
A: You really can’t take anything with you from this world. The only thing you get to take with you is your spirit. When we leave, the Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). It’s my privilege to be able to witness through the life that I live here on earth to make sure that I take not only my spirit, but the spirits of other people that don’t know Him to heaven with me. I know that I can take their spirits with me to heaven so that we can spend eternity together by introducing them to Jesus. You are set up in this world to live a maximum of 100–120 years, but the reality is that there is no life after this death if you don’t know Jesus. By winning souls to Jesus, you can assure yourself that you will leave heaven full and hell empty. I want my name known in heaven as one who believed, and I want my name known in hell as one that is feared.
Q: Why must we realize that we have a very limited amount of time on this earth, and what should believers do with this revelation?
A: I would tell you that Colossians 3:17 says, “Whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Every second of every day is to be redeemed. The Scripture also says redeem the time for the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16). That means every moment of every hour is to be brought back to the original purpose that God created time for; He put us in this place and time so that we can seize the moment for the Kingdom and bring people to the awareness of Him. Like I said before, I want to see heaven full and hell empty. I want to see Jesus receive the reward for His suffering.
Q: Many people often think they have to clean themselves up before they can come to God. How should the Church be challenging that message in our evangelism?
A: It’s very important that people understand that there is nothing that can clean you up except for the blood of Jesus. Many people come to know Jesus, and then after they come, just as Galatians 3 talks about, they think they will be justified by their works. But it’s by the Spirit that we are justified. The Church could challenge that with the reality of the Church’s intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Jesus didn’t pay the price to get us into religion; He paid the price to enter us into a relationship that is fully intimate with the Father through the agency of the Holy Spirit. The Church could challenge that by walking in the Spirit, by being led by the Spirit, more than by walking and being led by the flesh. The flesh profits nothing but the Spirit brings life (John 6:63). It’s so important for us to establish that intimacy with the Holy Spirit. He is the one that speaks to us. You can be in front of anyone at any time, and the Holy Spirit can speak the intricate details of their life that will bring them to Jesus. It’s important to establish intimacy with God. Not just a prayer to get into heaven, but a life lived where heaven has gotten into us! Where our mission is to destroy hell and our destination is to one day be in heaven with Jesus. But until then, we will bring heaven to earth through Holy Spirit.
Q: What was the thing that really made the difference in your heart in drawing you to Jesus?
A: God showed me that my sins and my lawless deeds He would remember no more. It was the truth about righteousness and what it means to be right with God: that God had taken my sin and removed it as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12) and that He had thrown my sin into a sea that He names forgetfulness. God didn’t just forgive, but He forgot. John the Baptist didn’t say, “Behold the Lamb of God that forgives the sin of the world.” He said, “Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world.” When I found out that He took my sin away, there was no reason that I couldn’t live full-on for Him! My conscience has been washed clean with the blood, and He will never bring it up again.
Q: Over the last year, we’ve dealt with many unexpecting shakings. Why is this a good thing for the Church?
A: Scripture clearly tells us that trials are necessary for the proving of our faith. When our faith is tested, we know that it’s real and genuine. Trials produce patience, and patience produces character, and character produces hope (Romans 5:3-4). Without the trial, you cannot get the hope. But you must go through the patience, and you must have character groomed inside of you. It’s so important for the Body of Christ to understand that God is everything. When we face adversity, He will never be moved; He will never be shaken. Christians get shaken consistently, but there is a rock and a foundation inside our hearts that can never be shaken. His name is Jesus. We need to know Him as our steadfast King.
Q: Talk about the power of God and why real revival is the answer for everything we’re going through around the world.
A: 1 Corinthians 4:20 says that the Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. Jesus didn’t just talk about getting to heaven, but He talked about heaven getting into us. The way that happens is the Holy Spirit comes to make His home, He abides in and rests upon us. He is in me for my sake, but He is upon me for yours. The power of God in the Book of Acts was so prevalent that people were coming to Jesus on a continual basis because the Apostles represented Him and the same miracles that Jesus did happened through them. According to John 14, the same works and greater works are going to happen because we believe in Him and He went to be with the Father. The reality of this is that the Holy Spirit is the best evangelist ever! There is no one who can win people to the Lord like the Lord Himself residing in us. Christ in us is the hope of glory according to Colossians 1:27. We need to understand what is available to us as a joint heir and as a son or daughter of God!
Q: What message has God put on your heart to share in this next season?
A: The message of righteousness, the message of the original Gospel that sets us free from sin, the effects of sin, and the stain of sin are all at the forefront. The message of the reality of what it means to walk with a pure heart before God, to ascend His holy hill with clean hands and a pure heart, to have the awareness that one day we will stand before the judgement seat of Christ and answer for the works done in our body. I want to live every day of my life fully engaged with Holy Spirit. I would love for the Body of Christ to understand her created value, her identity, the price that Jesus paid, and the value that the Father has for His bride. The truth of the blood of Jesus is that we can walk in both the power and the purity of God hand and hand!
Q: What should the Body of Christ be doing today to prepare for the harvest tomorrow?
A: We should dive into the Word so that we can know the truth concerning the doctrine and establish intimacy and relationship with Holy Spirit. We need the Spirit of truth to guide us into all truth (John 16:13). Holy Spirit wants to remind us of the things that Jesus said and tell us about things to come. The Holy Spirit is the precious, precious Spirit of God given to us by the Father and the Son. When Jesus and the Father poured out the Holy Spirit, they gave us what Jesus walked with all of His days. When Jesus was baptized in the Holy Spirit at the river Jordan, the Spirit of God became the power of God in and upon Jesus. And that same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us and will quicken our mortal body (Romans 8:11). We need this for what is coming, and we need this so that we can engage with the Father through intimate relationship and hear the Father’s heartbeat for humanity.
Q: Why do we as believers need to not have fear about what we’re walking through right now?
A: Covid is a sickness that Jesus paid the price to heal. We are in covenant with God and He is a covenant-keeping God. We need to understand what it means to be in covenant. We need to understand what it meant for the Hebrews to walk out of Egypt with not a feeble person among them. Their clothes grew on them. They spent 40 years in the wilderness with God as their sustainer and provider. The same God that provided for them, sustained them, and kept them from having a single feeble person among them now lives with us and is in covenant with us. Jehovah was the surety of the Old Covenant. Jesus is the surety of the New Covenant. We have a High Priest seated at the right hand of God who intercedes for us continuously. If we would just understand who He has created us to be and what He has created us to do while we are here, all of us would be witnesses for the Gospel. Take your part and jump in with everything that you are! Hold nothing back and allow God to take your life and use it for His glory! You are an instrument of righteousness! You are a weapon in the hands of the Master. God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind! Jesus is King and He wants us to understand that the perfect love of God casts out all fear and there is no fear in love! Take up your sword! Arm yourself with the whole armor of God! Live in rest and in the blood of Jesus and what He has paid a price for us to become! You are a warrior and you are His son or daughter! He is for you and not against you! Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world! Go forth in the mighty power of God and let’s bring heaven to earth!
