With Passover around the corner, I am reminded of the miraculous story of God freeing His people from Egypt. One thing I am reflecting on this year is how the Israelites needed to have great faith while they were being crushed by Pharaoh in Egypt. It is not always easy to have faith, especially under persecution! Or as in the case of the Israelites, slavery!
Egypt was a constricting environment, restricting them from their true calling and purpose. Today we can draw a parallel because our hardships can become a limiting factor to what God is actually trying to do. The main stream media, secular culture, and the noise of entertainment can become our own personal Egypt!
In a spiritual sense, if you are living in your Egypt, you can cause your own spiritual damage and limitations. It is important to claim the declarations of Lord. You have to see God in the midst of the hardship. You cannot let Egypt rob you of your voice, your vision, or your purpose. God has a plan for your life and it does not include the spiritual bondage of Egypt!
God can take you out of the land of limitation – which is Egypt – and into the land of limitlessness. While the Israelites were in the desert wandering, God brought them to Mt. Sinai. There God gave Moses the Ten Commandments and set up the foundation for virtuous living for Jews and Christians for eternity. They were enslaved in Egypt, BUT God called them to the Promised Land. God gave them His desire on Mt. Sinai in the desert and then He fulfilled His plan on Mt. Zion – Jerusalem – THE PROMISED LAND.
My encouragement to you this Passover is don’t get stuck in the pain, problems, and trouble of your personal Egypt. Let God fix your attention on Yeshua and His promises, His plan, and His love for you. Egypt is temporary, but God’s promises are eternal and His plan for you is an abundant and limitless life of joy!
