Daystar Television Network recently donated $5,000 to Samaritan’s Place, an orphanage in Manilla, Philippines and site of the ground-breaking Planetshakers LIVE simulcast earlier in September.
Planetshakers LIVE, a truly unique collaboration between Daystar Television Network and Planetshakers which took place Monday, September 21, featured brand new songs from the band’s new album #LetsGo along with personal “Let’s Go” stories from various individuals. The event was simulcast to Samaritan’s Place in what was an exclusive watch party for the children living there.
During Planetshakers LIVE, Daystar President and CEO Marcus Lamb announced the $5,000 donation to the orphanage, which also received free NIV Bibles for each child in conjunction with the event, courtesy of Biblica and Harper Collins Christian Publishing.
“The Bible tells us in James chapter 1 to ‘look after orphans and widows in their distress,’ and we at Daystar feel honored to have had the opportunity to do just that,” says Marcus Lamb, President and CEO of Daystar Television Network. “We love coming alongside ministries and organizations like Samaritan’s Place with donations that help them spread the love of Christ to those in need.”
Founded and administrated by Marc and Marilen Morris, career COG missionaries, Samaritan’s Place has faithfully cared for orphan children and facilitated short-term mission teams in the Philippines for more than sixteen years. A licensed and accredited social welfare agency, Samaritan’s Place services also include administrative liaison work for international adoptions.
The donation from Daystar will go towards assisting the orphanage in acquiring additional land for micro-farming, improving the infant unit facilities, developing a storage/maintenance center, and helping to sustain long-term care for orphans.
“Daystar’s generous gift will help fulfill our motto, which is based on the scriptural promise found in Jeremiah 29:11, ‘to build a hope and a future,’” says Marc Morris, Co-Founder of Samaritan’s Place. “We are very, very grateful for the love and compassion of Marcus and Joni, the Lamb family and all of Daystar!”
