We have a fun poem written by one of our viewers to share with you today, but first, here’s a little background information…
A while back, when Marcus was preaching at Cornerstone Church for John Hagee, he talked about how there is too much talk about worldly things, and not enough talk about Biblical things – too much focus on the here and now and not enough on what’s to come. The whole monologue rhymed, and was not only entertaining, but relevant and timely. You can see that clip from Marcus preaching at Cornerstone Church right here:
Then, during a recent episode of Marcus and Joni, the conversation turned to this clip of Marcus preaching and Joni added her own line – “Too much talk about Candy Crush and not enough talk about the burning bush!” Here is the clip from that episode:
Well, after the program aired, one of our viewers sent us a poem that she had written, inspired by the “Too Much Talk” monologue. During the program, Rachel had mentioned that she thought someone watching was struggling to conceive– turns out that the woman who wrote this poem was that very person!
Too much talk about Candy Crush
And not enough about being in the desert’s brush
Looking at a bush burning yet not being consumed
The evidence is there by the crackling but there’s absence of the flame’s fumes
I must be as crazy
As the woman in Daisy
To follow a voice I didn’t audibly hear
Yet it was all so clear
“I’m crazy for trying
Crazy for crying”
Over the pains of birthing this Daystar dream
That in the midst of impossibility seems
To get the very best of me
Yet forward and upward is all I can see.
Marcus and Joni, we thank you so much
You just don’t know all the lives that too much talk may touch
For instance, we’re in Alabama, a couple listening to you
Praying for a baby that we may dress in either pink or blue
Rachel was exactly right in what she said
Your too much talk replaces negative thoughts inside my head
Where the battle rages between hope and reality’s doubt
Reality is that I desperately want to birth a baby out
Reality is that too much talk brings forth laughter in my spirit
Not the laughter of Sarai when she doubted to hear it
For I laugh, cry, and continue to strongly believe
That one day my husband and I will most definitely conceive
Even though unnecessary talk is how it’s perceived by one
A lifesaving parable is what it is to some
How sweet it’s going to be to Candy Crush the head of the enemy
All because of too much talk from Marcus and Joni.
