Recently, Miss Kay Robertson was a guest on Marcus and Joni and she shared her delicious homemade biscuit recipe with us! Miss Kay is the wife of Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Robertson family who you might have seen on the popular television show Duck Dynasty.
Miss Kay is very passionate about cooking, and even has her own cookbook: Miss Kay’s Duck Commander Kitchen, full of delicious, made-from-scratch recipes. Her biscuit recipe is very popular among her family members, and even includes a surprising secret ingredient – Sprite!
- Ingredients
- 4 cups Pioneer biscuit mix
- 2 cups of sour cream
- 1 partial can of 7up or Sprite (don’t overdo it on the liquid – start with just 1/4 of a cup)
- 1/2 stick of butter
- Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Put the Biscuit mix and sour cream in a bowl and mix well.
- Add 7up or Sprite a little at a time until a ball is formed (you won’t need the whole can).
- Put some biscuit mix on the counter and roll out mixture the size of your pan (Miss Kay prefers a small iron skillets).
- Melt ½ stick of butter in the pan.
- Use the closest thing that is round (glass jar) to cut the biscuits out.
- Dip both sides of the biscuit in the butter then place them into the pan close together.
- Cook at 375 degrees for 20 minutes, until golden brown.
