It is with deep sadness that we must inform you of the death of First Sergeant Gal Bason of Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) Armored Division 188. Gal was one of the soldiers who assisted Daystar during the live “Heart for a Soldier” program that was featured this past “Heart for the World,” and was a recipient of the sunglasses sent on behalf of donations made by Daystar partners and viewers. He was killed in a Hamas ambush when his tank was hit by an anti-tank missile in Gaza.
Gal was born in Jerusalem to parents Pnina and Eli. He has an older brother who also serves in Gaza, along with a younger sister. His friends referred to him as “salt of the earth” because he was always a leader in both high school and throughout his military service, where he insisted on being a part of Israel Defense Forces’ Armored Division 188.
Please be praying for Gal Bason’s family during this tragic time, and continue to pray for Israel Defense Forces’ Armored Division 188, as well as the rest of the Israeli soldiers currently fighting throughout the nation.
