Right after Christmas 2015, when the rest of the world was gearing up for the New Year, one local Rowlett, Texas family lost everything in the massive tornado that hit the Dallas area. What started out as a typical night for the Vosburg family turned into a life-altering situation when the tornado sirens started going off in the middle of the night.
With a tornado on the way, Sabrina Vosburg and her two young children made their way to the safest place they could think of – the local Walmart, barely making it inside before the worst of the storm hit and the tornado touched down. Thankfully, the Vosburgs were all protected, but their house was demolished, car totaled, and their lives left in the hands of uncertainty.
That’s where Daystar was able to step in. With the support of our partners around the world, Daystar was able to make a $5,000 donation towards the Vosburg family to help them begin to rebuild their lives. And the best part of all? The Vosburgs felt the love of Christ so strongly through this situation and the generosity of near-strangers that they have now started attending church, something they hadn’t done regularly before!
“When the tornado hit and took everything, we didn’t know what to do! We were just starting to really get on our feet and not having to worry so much about bills,” says Sabrina Vosburg. “Then my sister set us up a go fund me account and it took off like wildfire! It was being shared over and over through Facebook, and total strangers were donating and saying they were praying for us.”
“Then Katrina called and said Daystar was giving us $5000! We didn’t believe it and then BAM the money was there! We were able to buy a new car because ours was totaled in the tornado. It’s been crazy how many people have come to help us. It’s really shown us that there is good in the world and that God really was there for us. I haven’t been to church in years and I have had bad anxiety about going, but this Sunday I just did it! It felt great and I knew it had been missing in our lives. We are thankful that through so many people, and their generosity, God has rebuilt what we lost and we are in a better place than before. Thank you so much!”
