Daystar Television Network partnered with Feed the Children to feed over 400 families in the Bedford, Texas area today.
Each family was given a 25 pound box of food, a 10 pound box of personal care products and a box of Avon. Additionally, Daystar handed out free CDs featuring Joni Lamb and the Daystar Singers and Band to everyone.
Tony Sellers, Director of Communications for Feed the Children, said that in the current economy, more Americans are facing difficulty paying their bills than ever before and don’t know how to ask for help. Said Sellers, “When they see their friends and neighbors handing them the boxes, it shows them they’re not in this alone. Other people care about their plight. That speaks a much as these items we’re giving.”
The box of food contains non-perishable pantry staples such as cereal, oatmeal, canned fruits and vegetables, spaghetti sauce and peanut butter. The food will feed a family of four for a week. Inside the box of personal care items, families will find things like paper towels, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap and lotion.
As a special touch, Feed the Children and Daystar gave each family a box of Avon product. It has been greatly appreciated from the recipients, many saying that it makes them feel human again and gives back their dignity.
“Jesus said in John 13:35, ‘By this shall all men know you are my disciples, when you love one another,’” said Marcus Lamb, founder and president of Daystar, “Love is not just something you say, it’s something you do.
Said Daystar vice president Joni Lamb, “It’s exciting to see what Feed the Children is doing with Daystar to be a blessing to families in our area.”
