Daystar has been nominated for 14 Lone Star Emmys, to be awarded November 5 in Houston. The awards are given annually to “the most experienced and talented television professionals from all disciplines of the industry,” according to the organization’s website.
Daystar will be competing for Emmys against major secular networks across Texas. Winners will be selected by mainstream judges. Marcus Lamb said that even though the judges are not necessarily Christian, “they recognize the excellence God has given us at Daystar.”
Said Marcus Lamb, “We strive to do the very best we can at Daystar so the world will watch. We want to reach not only the church, but outside the church. That is our motivation.”
The network is up for awards in the following categories: director, promotional program campaign, interview/discussion, specialty assignment report, audio, lighting, sports, musical composition, and documentary – cultural.
The Lone Star Emmys are the “standard-bearers for excellence in the television broadcasting industry and the gatekeepers of the prestigious regional Emmy awards in Texas.”
