Exciting News! Daystar has just given $68,000 to Pastors Koshy and Joicy Baby of Carmel Community Church to help grow their ministry in New Delhi, India! This donation was made in response to a $10,000 matching challenge issued by Daystar’s Founder and CEO Marcus Lamb, while the couple were guests on “Marcus and Joni” this past October. The challenge was met, and the result was $68,000 going towards furthering God’s Kingdom in India.
Pastors Koshy and Joicy Baby were so excited to hear this news, and specified that the money would be well used within their ministry. “We are so grateful to all of you for connecting with our ministry,” says Pastor Koshy. “As most of our educational centers for slum children are on rented facilities, we are planning on purchasing land for new centers for the less fortunate children.”
Besides pastoring Carmel Community Church, Koshy and Joicy Baby also run an orphanage for girls who are victims of, or at risk for human trafficking. This ministry was birthed out of a present need in the couple’s life, when three slum children were dropped on their doorstep. The children’s mother pleaded with the Baby’s to take her children because she could no longer care for them. That was 17 years ago, and the Baby’s have been teaching, sheltering and caring for young orphaned girls ever since.
Daystar sent a team to India last spring, where they partnered with Koshy and Joicy Baby to bless the women living in the slums of New Delhi with manicures, pedicures, gift bags, new shoes and new saris – a rare luxury for these women. Additionally, Daystar donated scooters and motorcycles to various pastors serving under Pastor Koshy, allowing them to greatly expand the reach of their ministry. The team was also able to bring backpacks, shoes and school supplies to the children living in the orphanage.
“I’m so excited to see Daystar bless Pastors Koshy and Joicy Baby with the much needed funds to continue helping those living in the slums of New Delhi,” says Joni Lamb, Co-Founder of Daystar Television Network. “They are truly Jesus’ hands extended.”
