Daystar wrapped up one of the most successful Sharathon campaigns in the network’s history earlier this week.
The total number of pledges was 66,070, just over 1,000 shy of the record set in the fall of 2006. “Thank you so much for the outstanding response,” said Joni Lamb.
In addition to funding the ministry side of Daystar (excluding all network salaries), much of the money donated during Sharathon is given out to other ministries. This year, the network committed 10% of all proceeds raised during its Israel Night to the Israeli children’s charity, Larger Than Life. Daystar has contributed over $63 million dollars to other ministries in recent years.
Although Daystar upgraded computer systems and increased voicemail capacity, some pledges were still missed. Marcus Lamb emphasized that those who wished to donate but were unable to get through can still call, “It doesn’t matter how much your pledge is,” said Lamb. “It would be so awesome if we could set an all time record for pledges.”
The high number of pledges is seen as a reason for optimism for Marcus Lamb. Said Lamb, “I believe our best days are yet to come, and I believe your best days are yet to come.”
