About Floyd Lawhon
Floyd Lawhon, a native of Texas, has been in the ministry for fifty years. He has served twenty three of those years as an evangelist, conducting meetings in churches in the U.S. and abroad. Four years of his ministry were spent in administrative offices in Virginia and Illinois. He has served twenty two of those years as a pastor.
His pastorates have been The Deer Park Church of God in Houston, Texas, the prestigious Coastal Cathedral in Savannah, Georgia, and the exciting Upper Room near Los Angeles, California. Each of his pastorates has had outstanding growth under his leadership. The Deer Park congregation was just an empty building with no one attending when he arrived. When he left there was a thriving congregation with a viable ministry. At Savannah, he, with God’s help, solved many financial problems and the church grew 400 in attendance and membership. At the Upper Room there was a net increase of 742 in membership and better than 1,000 new members were received into the church.
Mr. Lawhon has been in constant demand as a revivalist, conference and camp meeting speaker, having spoken at more than 100 of his denominations summer camp meetings and winter prayer conferences as well as many other state meetings.
His work has taken him to over fifty countries of the world in twenty-eight overseas trips, including Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, Mexico, much of Asia, the Middle East, and the continent of Africa. He has preached before thousands on the mission field as well as in America. He also served for fourteen years on the highest board of his denomination, the Executive Council (only eighteen men serve on this body). This board governs the activities of the organization between the General Assemblies. He presently serves on the World Missions Board in his denomination.
He most recently served as Pastor of Jamboree Worship Center, a rapidly growing church in the heart of Orange County, California. The growth of the church increased over one hundred and fifty percent in the .5 years that he pastored there.. To God be the glory for the great things he has done. The church is now known as “Free Chapel Orange County” and is pastured by Lawhon’s Successor and very close friend Jentzen Franklin.
Mr. Lawhon is an outstanding speaker, with an emotional appeal and a keen insight into the Scriptures. He has produced over fifty tape albums of sermons and many sermon videos. Together with his wife Gay, they are endeavoring to serve God with all of their hearts in their new assignment. Mr. Lawhon has recently retired from active Pastoral ministries and is again doing his heart’s greatest desire which is simply preaching and having people touched, saved and healed by the power of God.
