Bio
George Shinn was a poor student growing up, graduating last in his high school class. He went on to Evans Business College in Concord, North Carolina. After graduating, college, George raised enough money and bought Evans Business College and several other small colleges, consolidating them under the umbrella company Rutledge Education Systems. He later sold the schools and went on to buy the Charlotte Hornets. George remained owner of Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Hornets for 25 years. After experiencing a stroke and battling cancer, George sold his basketball team and decided to spend his life blessing others. George along with his wife, Denise started The George Shinn Foundation. From helping people during Hurricane Katrina to those in need in Haiti, the foundation is committed to give financially and further the work of churches, missionaries and non- profit organizations. George has written several books including “The Miracle of Motivation,” and “You Gotta Believe.” George and Denise reside in Nashville, TN and have three children.
