About Dennis and Kathy Balcombe
The call on Dennis Balcombe’s life brought him to Hong Kong in 1969. He got right to work and started Revival Christian Church the same year. Pastor Dennis lived, ate, and learned Cantonese among the Chinese. In 1971, he traveled back to Shiloh and courted Kathy Bissell, who was raised on the mission field, and made her his wife. Their ministry in Hong Kong grew, anticipating the opening of the borders to mainland China, which finally happened in 1978. They organized a “donkey for Christ” program to bring Bibles and much needed teaching and encouragement to the House Church in China. This ministry has grown and is still going strong today.
Since 1969, Revival Christian Church has grown to a congregation of over 800 believers, and they have had the great joy of seeing the Church in Hong Kong come into greater unity than ever before through networking and teaching on Praise and Worship and the Holy Spirit. They have also stood with the House Church and the Three Self Church in China and rejoice over the recent opening up of the Three Self Church to the message of the Holy Spirit.
The Balcombes will continue to network with the churches in Hong Kong to see Hong Kong won for Christ. They believe God for their congregation to grow in numbers and influence in spreading the message of Praise and Worship and the fullness of the Holy Spirit to bring the Church in Hong Kong into unity. And they will continue to bring teaching and encouragement to the Church in China to win many to Christ and the fullness of the Holy Spirit through networking with the House Church and the Three Self Church.
