The Celebration of the Feast of the Tabernacles, which takes place Friday, October 24th – Sunday, October 26th this year, has become an annual tradition at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas. It’s very important that we, as Christians, understand our Jewish roots, which is why Cornerstone Church has worked so hard to bring traditional Jewish Celebrations into the modern Christian calendar. The Feast of Tabernacles or “Sukkot” is known as the feast of the booths/temporary dwellings, and was a time when the Jewish males were required to go to Jerusalem. The entire feast lasts seven days, and always occurs during late September or October.
During the festival, Jewish families build dwellings of palm branches, partly open to the sky, to remember God’s blessings toward Israel during the 40 years the Israelites wandered the desert and lived in tents. Additionally, the festival celebrates the recent harvest, which provides the Jewish people with another reason to give thanks to God for provision.
Each year, Cornerstone Church joins in the celebration, giving thanks to God for his provision and many blessings. On Friday, October 24th, Monday, October 27th, and Tuesday, October 28th, you too will have the opportunity to join in on the celebration, as Daystar brings you the Feast of Tabernacles from Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas!
