Far away distant voices
calling my name,
images of the down-
trodden, beckoning me
to follow –
the spirit that calls men
to far away places
to help others
encounter God.
a fire in my being awakens
me in the early hours,
and my soul
seeks direction
for the journey.
groaning, I hear the
sound of others
who dream
of a mission
in prayer.
kindred spirits move
towards the voice
of the souls in need
of a savior’s love
going forth in power
with a call of God to
change the world
one life at a time.[/pullquote4]”Come to Macedonia and help us.” Paul took this to be a call from God, and he immediately headed to Philippi, the first city he reached in Macedonia. Macedonia was the land of Philip, King of Macedonia, and his son, Alexander the Great. King Philip represented the Greek world which was, at the time, the capital of refinement, learning, wealth and culture. If, as the Holy Scripture leads us to believe, divine providence guides the history of the Church, we should regard this phenomenon as a component of that guidance. It’s important for all of us to seek direction from the Lord whether for the mission field, the mate He has chosen for us, the school we should attend or the house we should purchase. The fact that this is true — that God gladly guides and directs His people — should bring great comfort when we have to make important decisions.
There are hidden caverns in our lives where the spirit dwells in the unseen realm of the soul. It is there in our secret prayer closet where He whispers clear directions and maps out the course of our lives. It is His Spirit that frees us from our earth-bound senses and grants us access to hear His voice in times of need. Do you need direction? Are you on the right road? Stop right now and seek Him and He shall help you to find your chosen path (Psa. 16).
Believe today that God will reveal things from His heart to yours. He wants you to know His ways. He longs to be your compass. Accept the truths that he reveals to you and incorporate them into your life.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delights in his way (Psa. 37.23).
Because of His guidance my heart has hope and my life has direction.
