When the Christian’s mind turns to nature, his heart turns toward God in faith, awe and wonder. The Bible says in Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it, for He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the rivers.” One of the Bible’s most prominent themes is that of God as Creator and as Master Creator, God is in divine control of the heavens and earth. The forces of nature are at His disposal, carrying out His purpose and will. Nature reveals His holiness, His glory, His wisdom and His power. Where does the mighty wind come from?
How can it vanish without a trace?
Does it appear when He whispers, “come”
And then hide in a corridor of space?
How does the sun know when to appear
And surrender its light at day’s end?
Sending its warmth to all of God’s children
Like a kind and loving friend.
Why doesn’t the moon fall from the sky,
And cease to shine at night?
An illumination to travelers passing by
A beacon of hope so bright.
Why don’t all the stars just disappear,
And cease to sparkle for man?
Such things are hard to comprehend,
But part of God’s master plan.
By His Word each obeys His command,
Knowing their boundaries by His will.
Held in harmony by His mighty hand,
Their duties to Christ they fulfill.
The fish of the sea swim the ocean,
A golden hawk soars up above.
As the galaxies spin in their pre-ordained order
We witness God’s power of majestic love.[/pullquote4] As we fill our minds with the knowledge that God is in control, it reminds us that He will always be there for both the earth he created and humanity as well. Most of us have sensed God’s presence through nature. Perhaps this has happened to you while looking at a snow-peaked mountain or walking through the woods or simply breathing in the salty spray of the ocean air. In the same manner, God wants us to experience His presence in our everyday lives. The same God that created the earth and hung the stars knows how to care for you and me. When you look at the grandeur of a mountain or pause by a quiet stream, remember that you are looking at God’s creation. Build your hope on Him. Regardless of what is troubling you, remember that the Lord of all is in control of all. In troubling times, it’s good to remember how valuable we are in God’s sight. Our Creator gives us endless reassurance and asks us to trust in Him. If He nurtures, provides and watches over even the tiniest of creatures, how much more will He care for his children? Immensely! God is in control, dear friend, and He will take care of you! Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows (Matthew 10:29). There is no lesson as valuable as confronting a difficult situation and then triumphing over adversity with the powers of patience, wisdom and hope
