Wandering the beach,
blowing winds
across
the sky line,
I discovered another world, an inner
sanctum.
waves clashing, whispering, chanting —
gulps of air echoed His name:
one by one all in a row,
the wind howled and did blow:
waves washing away the old
rushing to greet my feet,
ascending with more force,
now, they speak
of Him.
cleansed and more, along the shore:
with you Lord, I long for your touch;
but also,
deeper than the ocean, farther than the
masked ships of yesterday,
swell like a mighty wave over my soul;
giving, living — letting your life
engulf me,
wash me,
spill over into my life:
utterly:
your terms Lord, not mine:
I leave the how to you lord:
but soon, here comes
another wave. [/pullquote4]Promises had been made and then broken. Hurt, confused and in need of His presence, I walked the beach in search of answers, crying out for His all-encompassing power to grant me serenity and peace. I don’t know how to put it into words but God met me that day as I waded out deeper into the water, filling me with His presence and peace. Wave after wave filled my heart and lifted me upward, far above my troubles and hurt. And for the moment, I too soared like the seagulls overhead. That day I learned a small but important lesson and that is when God takes possession of our heart and drains it of earthly tribulation, we are free to enjoy divine freedom and a new passion for life.
What about you, dear friend? Is your spiritual tank running on empty? Have you been wounded by a loved one or friend? Always remember, that if you want God to see you through, you must trust Him completely! And trust can be difficult when you are being tossed about like the little fiddler crabs. We need to stay close to God, and always rely on Him for comfort. We can do this by reading the Bible each day and praying. Then, we too can begin to soar above life’s daunting circumstances by faith.
May I suggest that you make your prayer closet your personal retreat? God is all that we need — perfect parent, faithful friend and treasured companion. He cares only for us. He will see you through the storm and fill your heart with His presence. His Spirit will breathe new life into you and allow your heart and spirit to soar!
“…those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles (Isa. 40:31).
Dreams made of hope bring healing power to the broken wings of those who wish to take
flight from their earthly troubles.
