With each new generation comes challenges and changes to certain social norms that help move our nation forward, binding us together through our ideals, our sense of justice and our faith. However, some of these shifts in public opinion deteriorate core values that not only force us to redefine what we believe but tear away crucial pieces of a healthy society.
Recently, Dan Cathy, President of Chick-fil-A, exercised his right as an American citizen to express his views on the controversial subject of gay marriage. By upholding a biblical and traditional view of marriage as being between a man and a woman, he and the organization have come under fire by many not sharing in their beliefs.
We at Daystar applaud the boldness and character of Mr. Cathy and the Chick-fil-A organization for standing by their faith-centered views as well as traditional values held by many in America. We believe that the traditional family structure is central to who we are as a people and found rooted in Judeo/Christian values.
In a time that has seen growing negative sentiment towards those of Christian faith and values, we stand by Mr. Cathy and Chick-fil-A for their defense of a long held and cherished view of marriage, and we encourage those who agree with this view to join together with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee and Americans everywhere for a National Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on Wednesday, August 1. We pray that Americans of similar values will stand together, truly being one nation under God.
