The life experiences of Maury Davis, pastor of Cornerstone Church in Madison, Tennessee, have been multi-faceted and God-driven—encompassing a sinful past, a time of incarceration, an unreservedly complete spiritual transformation, not to mention a dedication to winning the lost for Jesus Christ.
His mentorship by Pastor J. Don George of Calvary Church in Irving, Texas, helped him establish a way of preaching the gospel that reflects an attitude of honesty, integrity, forthrightness, and biblical insight which allows him to minister to those who feel like there is no hope. Grace is the primary message, and living by biblical principles is a focal point in his sermons. Starting as a janitor at Calvary Church, and then, becoming the Youth Pastor enabled him to gain administrative skills which ultimately established his current paradigm at Cornerstone Church. After marrying his wife, Gail, Maury went on the road as a full-time evangelist preaching at churches, youth camps, Bible schools, and speaking to teens in public school systems. In 1986, Maury and Gail became proud parents of triplets—Gabrielle, Danielle, and Galen. Their family expanded to six members when their son, Dillon, was born in 1994.
In 1991, after preaching one Sunday at the two-hundred fifty-member Cornerstone Church, Maury was offered the position of Senior Pastor. He accepted the appointment and has led that congregation to its current average attendance of more than four thousand people. He not only brings the Word to his congregants on a weekly basis, but he also ministers to people all over the world through the church website and the InFocus television broadcast on the CBS network. Maury simply preaches that Jesus is the answer—whatever the situation, whatever the problem. He has a heartfelt desire for people to understand that if God would save him, He stands ready to meet anyone, whatever their circumstances.
